The Papa Ben's Brittle Story

Our delicious, gourmet peanut brittle was created over 60 years ago in a small kitchen in Decatur, Indiana by Papa Ben Eichenauer. Having limited income with 3 young children, Papa Ben wanted to make simple holiday presents for family and friends, and so he created the tradition of making batches of peanut brittle. He passed the recipe down to his son John who has been keeping the family tradition alive for the past 35 years. A few years ago John taught his sons Ben and Joe the recipe and they, too, make batches to share with family and friends.

For years friends have been telling us that we should sell our peanut brittle so more people could have the pleasure of eating this simple and wholesome treat. This year we decided to launch our Papa Ben’s Brittle business and see where our efforts lead us. We intend to operate as a seasonal business, bringing the community an old fashioned treat for the Winter Holidays, plus Halloween and Thanksgiving.
